Foundations in BPPV Management

Conquer Dizziness, Empower Patients: Master BPPV with Our Live Foundations Course

Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV) is a leading cause of dizziness, and effective management requires a combination of knowledge and hands-on skills. Our live BPPV Foundations Seminar is designed to provide physical therapists and assistants with the comprehensive training needed to confidently assess, diagnose, and treat this common condition.

Seminar Highlights:

  • Hands-On Learning: Immerse yourself in practical, interactive workshops where you'll practice canalith repositioning maneuvers (CRMs) under expert guidance.

  • Live Demonstrations: Observe expert clinicians as they perform diagnostic assessments and demonstrate various CRMs, ensuring you understand the nuances of each technique.

  • Case-Based Discussions: Apply your knowledge to real-world scenarios, gaining insights into BPPV assessment and treatment complexities.

  • Networking Opportunities: Connect with colleagues, exchange experiences, and build a support network of BPPV specialists.

  • Patient Education Strategies: Learn effective techniques for empowering patients with self-management tools to reduce symptom recurrence.

Seminar Benefits:

  • Master the Mechanics: Dive deep into the inner ear's anatomy and physiology, understanding the otolithic system and BPPV pathology.

  • Refine Your Diagnostic Skills: Develop the ability to differentiate BPPV types and canal involvement accurately.

  • Expand Your Treatment Arsenal: Master evidence-based CRMs for all BPPV presentations.

  • Boost Confidence: Elevate your expertise, impress colleagues, and build patient trust.

Bonus Materials:

  • Comprehensive seminar documents with detailed illustrations and step-by-step instructions

BPPV FOUNDATION COURSE – GOALS

Knowledge Goals

1.   Epidemiological Understanding: Students will accurately analyze and interpret epidemiological data on BPPV prevalence, demonstrating a grasp of the factors influencing its incidence across different demographics.

2.   Vestibular System Mastery: Students will demonstrate a thorough understanding of the vestibular system's anatomy and physiology through detailed diagrams, accurate labeling, and clear explanations of each component's function in maintaining balance and spatial orientation.

3.   Pathophysiology Expertise: Students will be able to differentiate BPPV from other forms of vertigo and provide clear explanations of the pathophysiological mechanisms (canalithiasis vs. cupulolithiasis) underlying BPPV subtypes.

4.   Diagnostic Test Proficiency: Students will be able to identify the key clinical signs and symptoms of both vertical and horizontal canal BPPV and explain the rationale behind each diagnostic test (Dix-Hallpike, ½ Hallpike, Supine Head Roll Test, Upright BPPV Protocol).

5.   Treatment Rationale Comprehension: Students will articulate the evidence-based rationale for various canalith repositioning maneuvers (PSC, ASC, HSC) and explain how each maneuver is tailored to specific BPPV subtypes.

Skill Goals

1.   Differential Diagnosis Application: Given patient case scenarios, students will accurately differentiate BPPV from other vertigo-inducing conditions, justifying their diagnoses with evidence from the patient's history, symptoms, and diagnostic tests.

2.   Patient Communication Excellence: Students will demonstrate clear and concise communication of BPPV diagnosis and treatment plans to simulated patients, ensuring understanding and addressing concerns.

3.   Treatment Skill Demonstration: In a simulated setting, students will safely and accurately perform canalith repositioning maneuvers on appropriate "patients" while adhering to safety guidelines and best practices.

Attitude Goals

1.   Critical Evaluation of Research: When presented with new research findings or emerging trends in BPPV management, students will demonstrate the ability to critically evaluate the evidence, considering its validity, relevance, and potential impact on clinical practice.

2.   Patient-Centered Approach: Through interactions with simulated patients, students will demonstrate empathy, respect, and a genuine understanding of the impact of BPPV on patients' quality of life.

3.   Professionalism and Ethical Practice: Students will consistently adhere to ethical and safety standards in all simulated patient interactions, maintaining confidentiality and demonstrating respect for patient autonomy.
